The J.E. Wilson Advisors team focuses on planning first, and then investing. Out-of-process investing done without addressing planning, can often mask long term issues…or even worse, totally derail an investment strategy.
James E. Wilson, CFP® , founder of J.E. Wilson Advisors, was selected as one of the top 60 financial advisors in the United States by Worth magazine in 1994 and again in 1996, 1997 and 1998 by Worth as one of the top 200 financial advisors. He also was named by Medical Economics as one of the top financial advisors for doctors in 1998, 2000, 2002, 2004, 2006 and 2008, the entire length of the independent review.
In 1982, Mr. Wilson formed South Carolina’s first comprehensive fee-only financial planning firm. Mr. Wilson has been active in serving the wealth planning needs of physicians for nearly 30 years and has been a pioneer in the field of fee-only financial planning. He is uniquely qualified to offer uncommon wisdom to medical professionals and has the experience and understanding about the challenges often experienced by physicians at various stages of their careers.
He is a past president of the National Association of Personal Financial Advisors (NAPFA), the primary professional association for fee-only financial advisors. Mr. Wilson also served for four years as a member of the Board of Governors of the Certified Financial Planner Board of Standards. He also served as President of the Consumer Financial Education Foundation. He lives in Shandon with his wife, Cathy, son John, a basketball player at Cal Lutheran University and daughter Nazley, a softball player at Eckerd College.
Katie Stokes, CFP® joined J.E. Wilson Advisors, LLC in 2004 and currently serves as the Director of Financial Planning. She has a bachelor’s degree in Finance and Economics from the University of South Carolina. After completing the comprehensive requirements to become a Certified Financial Planner™, Katie officially became licensed in 2007. Katie is a member of the National Association of Personal Financial Advisors (NAPFA), the Columbia Tax Study Group, and the Columbia Estate Planning Council. She currently lives with her husband Harry Stokes Jr. and daughter, Helen, in Lexington, SC.
Nealie Coleman Werts has been the Client Services Representative at J.E. Wilson Advisors, LLC since 2000. She handles client requests for setting up new accounts, IRA accounts and receiving transfers. She is the liaison with the team at TD Ameritrade Institutional which custodies all of our accounts. Nealie is a native of the lower Richland community and a graduate of Clemson University with a B.S. degree in accounting. She has worked with a CPA firm and state government in auditing, financial statements preparation, grants allocation and individual income tax preparation. Nealie and her husband, Rick, live in Hampton Ridge. The mother of two grown children, Beth and Brant, she is an active member at First Presbyterian Church.
Raven Hardy joined J.E. Wilson Advisors, LLC as a Para planner in 2012. As such, she handles administrative duties as well as assists with financial plan development, technology expansion and improvement of social media outlets. Raven is a former employee of the Richland County School District One, where she received two Customer Care nominations, and was named Bookkeeper of the Year (2010-2011) and Arden Elementary School Classified Employee of the Year (2010-2011). She is fluent in Spanish and loves learning about other languages and cultures. Raven currently resides in Columbia, SC with her husband, Erik Hardy.
