  James E. Wilson, CFP®, founder of J.E. Wilson Advisors, LLC received his undergraduate education in Economics at the University of South Carolina. He then completed the postgraduate study in investments, taxation, estate planning, insurance and retirement planning leading to the Certified Financial Planner (CFP®) professional designation. In 1982, Mr. Wilson formed South Carolina's first comprehensive fee-only financial planning firm. Mr. Wilson has been active in serving the wealth planning needs of physicians for over 25 years and has been a pioneer in the field of fee-only financial planning. He is uniquely qualified to offer uncommon wisdom to medical professionals and has the experience and understanding about the challenges often experienced by physicians at various stages of their careers. He is a past president of the National Association of Personal Financial Advisors (NAPFA), the primary professional association for fee-only financial advisors. Mr. Wilson also served for four years as a member of the Board of Governors of the Certified Financial Planner Board of Standards. From 1990-1992, he served as a member of a Blue Ribbon Committee for the South Carolina Securities Commissioner to review South Carolina securities laws. He also served as President of the Consumer Financial Education Foundation. Since 1994 he has been a member of the Board of Advisors of the Priestly Fraternity of St. Peter and chairs the Financial Management Group of the Board. Mr. Wilson serves as Diocesean Representative for the Equestrian Order of the Holy Sepulchre of Jerusalem. He was selected as one of the top 60 financial advisors in the United States by Worth magazine in 1994 and again in 1996, 1997 and 1998 by Worth as one of the top 200 financial advisors. He also was named by Medical Economics as one of the top financial advisors for doctors in 1998, 2000, 2002, 2004 and 2006. He lives in Shandon with his wife, Cathy, and their two children, John, a basketball player at California Lutheran University, and Nazley, a 10th grader at Cardinal Newman School.
Katie Stokes, CFP® joined J.E. Wilson Advisors, LLC in 2004. She has a bachelor’s degree with honors in Finance and Economics from the University of South Carolina. After completing the comprehensive requirements to become a Certified Financial Planner™, Katie officially became licensed in November, 2007. Katie is our firm’s representative for the SC Healthcare Managers Association as well as a member of the National Association of Personal Financial Advisors (NAPFA), the Columbia Tax Study Group, and the Columbia Estate Planning Council. She also serves as a guest lecturer for the Midland’s Technical College CFP® Certification Program. She currently lives with her husband Harry Stokes Jr. in Lexington, SC.
Raven Hardy joined J.E. Wilson Advisors, LLC in 2004 as Administrative Assistant. Raven provides administrative support and service to our team and our clients, and also acts as our in-house website designer. Raven currently resides in the Harbison Community with her husband, Erik.
Nealie Coleman Werts has been the Client Services Representative at J.E. Wilson Advisors, LLC since 2000. She handles client requests for setting up new accounts, IRA accounts and receiving transfers. She is the liaison with the team at TD Ameritrade Institutional which custodies all of our accounts. Nealie is a native of the lower Richland community and a graduate of Clemson University with a B.S. degree in accounting. She has worked with a CPA firm and state government in auditing, financial statements preparation, grants allocation and individual income tax preparation. Nealie and her husband, Rick, live in Hampton Ridge. The mother of two grown children, Beth and Brent, she is an active member at First Presbyterian Church.
